Meet Bonnie — Warm, Experienced, Here for You

Bonnie — Certified Hypnotherapist at Beautiful Mind Hypnotherapy

Certified by the Hypnotherapy Academy of America, I work with children, teens, and adults on a wide range of concerns — if you struggle with anxiety, sleep, habits, confidence, stress, phobias, chronic pain, addiction, and more. Whether the client is a six-year-old with bedtime fears or an adult working to break a long-standing pattern, every session is built around what that person actually needs.

I work with clients as young as 6 through adulthood. I believe in addressing issues at an early age to develop lifelong skills for managing the powerful mind we all possess — and learning to use it in just about every situation.

Hypnotherapy is a highly successful modality that's often misunderstood because of entertainment and stage hypnosis. Stage hypnosis is performance — not how real hypnotherapy works. Real hypnotherapy is a gentle, focused state of relaxation — like being deeply absorbed in a good book or a guided meditation. You stay fully aware, can pause at any moment, and are always in complete control. Hypnosis guides your subconscious to make meaningful, lasting change — helping the mind respond differently to worry, discomfort, and stress.

It's used in research-backed protocols at institutions like the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Michigan. Children's natural imaginations make them especially receptive — that imagination can create lifelong, positive change.

Every client is different. I start by really listening — to you, or to your child — then build a personalized plan of gentle sessions tailored to your needs. All sessions happen by secure video, which research confirms is just as effective as meeting in person.

Elite Athletes Who've Used Hypnosis

  • Mike Tyson — trained from age 12 with hypnotherapist John Halpin under coach Cus D'Amato (documented in his autobiography Undisputed Truth)
  • Tiger Woods — worked from age 13 with Dr. Jay Brunza, using hypnosis to develop focus and "the zone"
  • Steve Hooker — Olympic pole vault gold medalist (2008) who credited hypnosis with managing competitive anxiety

Hypnotherapy is a complementary approach and not a substitute for medical care.

Gentle Support for All Ages

These are some of the areas where I work most often — but hypnotherapy is a flexible tool, and every client's situation is unique. If you don't see your concern listed, reach out and ask.

Anxiety & Worry

Whether it's a child with school-day nerves or an adult carrying daily overwhelm, hypnotherapy helps the mind respond to worry differently. I use gentle, age-appropriate techniques in a warm, one-on-one setting.

All ages welcome

Sleep & Restless Nights

Racing thoughts, bedtime fears, or trouble falling asleep — for kids and adults alike. Hypnotherapy helps quiet the mind and build healthy, restorative sleep patterns that last.

Kids & adults

Stress & Overwhelm

A gentle, non-medication approach for adults and teens carrying tension, pressure, or burnout. Hypnotherapy activates the body's natural relaxation response and builds lasting skills for managing stress.

Teens & adults

Confidence & Self-Esteem

For kids, teens, and adults working through self-doubt, shyness, or the voice that says "I can't." A gentle way to build quiet, steady belief in yourself or your child.

All ages welcome

Test & Performance Anxiety

For students, teens, and adults facing exams, presentations, auditions, or big moments at work. Build confidence and focus that show up when it counts — also used to support participation and confidence in sports, where many elite athletes work with personal hypnotherapists.

All ages welcome

Habits & Everyday Challenges

Nail biting, hair pulling, thumb sucking, everyday fears — the small things that can weigh on a child, teen, or adult. Gentle, respectful, and always at your pace.

All ages welcome

And So Much More

Hypnotherapy is a versatile tool. I also work with clients on phobias and fears, chronic pain management, IBS (gut-directed hypnotherapy is recommended for IBS by the American College of Gastroenterology and the Rome Foundation), incontinence (an alternative or complementary approach for overactive bladder and urgency urinary incontinence), addiction support, grief and loss, public speaking, life transitions, and more. If you're not sure whether hypnotherapy can help with what you're going through, reach out — I'm always happy to talk it through.

Your Questions, Answered

Curious about how it works? These are the questions I hear most often.

Book a Session

Hypnotherapy is a gentle, well-researched technique — nothing like stage hypnosis. It uses focused attention and guided relaxation to help the mind respond differently to worry, tension, or discomfort. You're fully aware, in control, and can stop at any time. Think of it as a deep, relaxing, and creative process that integrates positive suggestions into the subconscious mind with real results — a comforting way to take back your own power: the power of your mind.

Very common — and totally okay. What matters most is that the child is willing — hypnosis only works when it's not forced. Most kids warm up within the first few minutes because sessions feel more like guided imagination than therapy: they're never questioned, only offered suggestions, in a relaxed, non-threatening way. I get to know them during the intake call before we ever start a session, so by the time we begin, they're already comfortable with me and usually excited to try something new. I do about 95% of the talking, and they're always in control. Parents are welcome to sit in, especially during the first one or two sessions.

Hypnotherapy is a focused, skill-building approach rather than open-ended talk therapy. One of the biggest differences is that you don't have to do the talking — I do about 95% of it. Rather than asking you to recount or relive difficult experiences, I guide you into a relaxed state and offer gentle, positive suggestions your mind can put to work. Sessions are structured, usually shorter-term, and aimed at building real tools your mind and body can use.

Yes. Research shows that online hypnotherapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person sessions. Many clients — especially children — actually relax more deeply in their own familiar environment. All you need is a quiet space, a comfortable position (bed, chair, or sofa), and a stable internet connection.

I work with clients across most of the United States via secure video. Telehealth rules vary by state, so I'll confirm availability in your area when you reach out. If we can't work together for any reason, I'll point you toward a good alternative.

Not at all. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention — similar to being deeply absorbed in a good book or movie. You're aware, in control, and can open your eyes or stop at any moment. I'll walk you through everything beforehand so you know exactly what to expect.

It depends on what we're working on. Some kids see real shifts in just 3–5 sessions. Every client is different — I recommend a week between sessions, jotting down even small differences to report back at follow-ups. Deeper or longer-standing challenges may require more sessions. We'll talk through a personalized plan and what to expect when we first meet. Your success is my success, and I pride myself on getting the most out of every session.

Hypnotherapy is generally paid out of pocket. HSA or FSA funds may be eligible — I'd recommend checking with your insurance provider. I don't bill insurance directly, which keeps sessions private, flexible, and focused on what's best for you.

I'll walk you and/or your child through this non-invasive process when we speak. The basics: for children, frame it as something fun and relaxing, remind them they're in control the whole time, find a quiet room, and have them sit or recline comfortably with the camera showing their entire body. Sessions feel creative and safe — never clinical or scary. I like to describe it as a brain massage — most people don't want it to end.
